Who is Landmark One?
Landmark One Insurance Company is an affiliate of the
Northern Capital Inc. holding company. Other affiliates
of the holding company include Northern Capital Insurance
Company, Northern Capital Management, Inc. and Keystone
Adjusters, Inc.
Landmark One Insurance Company recently received a
Certificate of Authority from the Florida Office of
Insurance Regulation and has been approved to “takeout”
50,000 policies from Citizens Property Insurance Corporation
beginning on December 17, 2007.
Northern Capital Management Inc. is the managing general
agent for Landmark One Insurance Company and handles
all marketing, risk underwriting and policy administration
functions. Keystone Adjusters, Inc. will adjust and
service all claims for Landmark One.
What is the Financial Stability Rating (FSR)
of Landmark One?
Landmark One has received a FSR of “A”
Exceptional from Demotech, Inc. and has unencumbered
capital and policyholder surplus in excess of ten million
dollars.
How do Landmark One Insurance Company rates
and coverage compare to Citizens?
Your customers will receive a renewal notice about
45 days prior to their Citizens policy expiration from
Landmark One Insurance Company. The Landmark One renewal
offer will be approximately 10% lower than your customers
Citizens homeowner’s policy. The coverage offered
in the Landmark One policy will be almost identical
to your customers Citizens policy.
How does the assumption (take-out) work?
A brief overview is of the assumption process is as
follows: A group of Citizens policies are selected by
Landmark One for assumption on a specific date, the
assumption date. Any claims that occur on or after the
assumption date are to be reported to the company (Landmark
One) that assumes the policy. All policy services, other
than claims are handled by Citizens until the policy
renews with the assuming company (Landmark One).
Will the policyholder receive a letter from
Landmark One explaining the takeout?
Yes, based on the laws recently enacted, Landmark One
is required to send a letter to the policyholder explaining
the takeout process and their options.
How do I get appointed to write voluntary business
for Landmark One or Northern Capital Insurance Company?
At this time agents will not be able to generate new
business submissions for Landmark One Insurance Company
as the company presently does not have a voluntary homeowners
program. However, we will consider agents holding a
“limited appointment” with Landmark One
Insurance Company to apply for an appointment to write
“voluntary” business with our affiliated
company, Northern Capital Insurance Company.
